CastIQ Privacy

Your fishing information stays yours.

This privacy page describes how the CastIQ iPhone app handles fishing records, permissions, backups, advertising and purchases.

Last updated: September 30, 2026

CastIQ does not collect or upload your fishing records.

Your trips, catches, locations, notes, fish, lures and photos are stored in CastIQ's private storage on your iPhone.

1. No CastIQ account or server

CastIQ does not operate an account system or remote fishing database. Your fishing information is not transmitted to CastIQ. Because CastIQ does not receive it, we cannot view it, use it, sell it or share it.

2. Permissions

  • Location: Location is used only when you choose features that record a trip, catch or fishing spot.
  • Camera and photos: Camera and photo access are used only when you choose to add a picture.

Information created from these permissions remains on your iPhone as part of your local fishing log.

3. Backups and actions you choose

A backup contains your fishing records and their fish, lure and catch photos. CastIQ writes the backup only to the destination you select.

If you export a backup, send an email or share a file, iOS and the service you select handle that action under their own privacy policies. CastIQ does not receive a copy.

4. Your control

Deleting CastIQ removes its on-device information unless you previously saved a backup. Keep backups in a location you control if you want to restore your fishing log later.

5. Purchases

Apple processes CastIQ purchases. CastIQ does not receive or store your payment-card information.

6. Advertising

The free Beginner tier uses Google AdMob to display advertising only where CastIQ determines that advertising consent is not required. CastIQ disables ad personalization and requests restricted, non-personalized ads. CastIQ does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, does not access Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA), and does not permit cross-app tracking. If consent is required or CastIQ cannot determine eligibility, CastIQ does not request an ad.

To deliver and measure these contextual ads, Google may process a coarse location derived from the device's IP address, app- or developer-bounded device identifiers, advertising data such as ads viewed, interactions with the app or ads, crash data, performance data and other diagnostic information. Google may use this information for contextual ad delivery, frequency capping, aggregated reporting, analytics and fraud prevention.

CastIQ does not send your fishing records, catch photos, notes or precise saved fishing locations to Google. Paid, ad-free tiers do not request ads. Learn more in Google's Privacy Policy.
